Electron doping induced stable ferromagnetism in two-dimensional GdI3 monolayer

چکیده

As a two-dimensional material with hollow hexatomic ring structure, Néel-type anti-ferromagnetic (AFM) GdI3 can be used as theoretical model to study the effect of electron doping. Based on first-principles calculations, we find that Fermi surface nesting occurs when more than 1/3 per Gd is doped, resulting in failure obtain stable ferromagnetic (FM) state. More interestingly, appropriate Mg/Ca doping (1/6 Gd) turns half-metallic FM This AFM–FM transition results from transfer doped electrons spatially expanded Gd-5d orbital, which leads coupling local half-full Gd-4f through 5d–4f hybridization. Moreover, shortened Gd–Gd length key formation coupling. Our method provides new insights into obtaining materials AFM materials.

Quantum hall ferromagnetism in a two-dimensional electron system

Experiments on a nearly spin degenerate two-dimensional electron system reveals unusual hysteretic and relaxational transport in the fractional quantum Hall effect regime. The transition between the spin-polarized (with fill fraction nu = 1/3) and spin-unpolarized (nu = 2/5) states is accompanied by a complicated series of hysteresis loops reminiscent of a classical ferromagnet. In correlation ...

Control of ferromagnetism via electron doping in In2O3:Cr.

Carrier-induced ferromagnetism in wide-gap transparent conductive oxides has been widely discussed and debated, leading to confusion and skepticism regarding whether dilute magnetic oxides exist at all. We show from density-functional calculations within a band-gap corrected approach that ferromagnetic Cr-Cr coupling can be switched on and off via electron doping in the wide-gap transparent n-t...

On two-dimensional ferromagnetism

We study the existence of minimizers for 2-dimensional ferromagnetism with various assumptions on different terms of the total energy. Our general philosophy for finding the minimizing magnetizations is to reduce this problem to a minimization problem for a new energy over a divergence-free field. Such a general philosophy works for all dimensions. However, in the twodimensional case, since the...

Mechanical behaviour of motion for the two-dimensional monolayer system‎

‎In this paper we study the dynamics of the 2D-motion of a particle of monolayer‎. First we consider the usual physical time component and the plan manifold R2, having the polar coordinates. Then a geometric approach to nonholonomic constrained mechanical systems is applied to a problem from the two dimensional geometric dynamics of the Langmuir-Blodgett monolayer‎. We consider a constraint sub...

Ferromagnetism in Transitional Metal-Doped MoS2 Monolayer.

Manipulating electronic and magnetic properties of two-dimensional (2D) transitional-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) MX2 by doping has raised a lot of attention recently. By performing the first-principles calculations, we have investigated the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of transitional metal (TM)-doped MoS2 at low and high impurity concentrations. Our calculation result indic...
